Dearest Pizza Eaters,
How are you guys doing today?. The weather's been kind of drag all week.I've been in the mood to just sleep all week. I did musk up the energy to go out to karaoke last night down at South Beach. Went with a whole group of family members to sing at the Shelbourne hotel. It was pretty fun. They have a cool spot down there where you can do Karaoke, have a drink at the bar & occasionally see some stars come out and do karaoke as well. All this info though is for another type of blog lol...Anyways, after we hung out there, we built up quite an appetite & decided to grab a slice of Pizza at this joint called Groovy's Pizza. Apparently these little joints are opening up all over South Florida. We decided to give it a try & see what it's all about. This slice you see here is the slice I was given. I believe its the Four-Cheese Pesto Pizza (White Pizza) a blend of fresh ricotta, parmesan, provolone and mozzarella topped with home-made pesto sauce with sweet red onions and fresh plum tomatoes (no sauce) . It did have something a bit extra in it-some black kalamata olives. The pizza actually tasted pretty delicious & had lots of flavor, but felt like it weighed 7 tons. It was HEAVY! & a bit chewy, I might add. The dough was soggy due to the 25 toppings & 6 pounds of cheese on it (sarcastically speaking). It didn't have any sauce. I am a big fan of sauce so I asked that some sauce be put on mine. The dough was not to my liking. I do like a crispy slice. I would rate the dough a 3. The cheese was a bit much, but thats why it's called a four cheese pizza I guess. I think it was just a bit over the top because it weighed down the pizza. I would rate the cheese a 6. Since there was no sauce, I can't really rate 1 spoon of extra drizzled sauce. I do think however, that for a slice with no sauce on it, the taste was quite rich. It also had pesto sauce on it that I believe added to that flavor. All in all, I would rate this pizza a 5. It was very tasty but lacked that crispy consistency that makes pizza deliciously delightful. As for the price-their slices aren't cheap! they run from $3.50 -$4.00 a slice.
If your in South Beach & have a late night craving & want to grab a quick late night snack, try out Groovy's. Please tell them the pizzamansdaughter sent you!! I recommend this place for a quick snack, but don't expect anything more than that! And by the way, it claims to be like NY style pizza. Anybody who thinks it is, obviously is NOT A NEW YORKER :-O
